Pet South America 2009 will host the world congress for small animal veterinarians
In its 8th edition, the main segment fair in Latin America will host the WSAVA this year. From July 22nd through the 24th, São Paulo will be the world capital of small pets as it holds two of the largest events aimed at professionals from this area: Pet South America 2009 and the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinarian Association) congress. Organized by NürnbergMesse Brasil, the events will be held at the Transamerica Expo Center and the Transamerica Hotel respectively. Around 270 exhibitors at Pet South America 2009 will present new products and services to the animal heath, nutrition, equipment, aquarium supplies, veterinary specialties, accessories, publications and services segments in an area that will be 10% larger than the previous year. 22 thousand segment professionals, such as veterinarians, pet shop owners and pet food, accessory, medicine and cosmetics representatives are expected to visit the fair over its 3-day duration. The 34th edition of the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinarian Association) congress, will be held together with Pet South America 2009. The WSAVA congress will be held by Anclivepa Brazil (the National Association of Small Animal Veterinary Clinics) and will be organized by NürnbergMesse Brasil. Brazil will host this internationally recognized event this year. “The choice of Brazil as the host of this global veterinarian meeting solidifies Pet South America in the world small animal segment market”, confirms Ligia Amorim, General Director at NürnbergMesse Brasil in Latin America. In addition to exchanging experiences with colleagues from other countries, the congress attendees will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with the leading pet area scientific authorities in the world. In providing these kinds of opportunities, NürnbergMesse Brasil organizes business gatherings and updates that reach all levels of the country’s supply chain sector. “With a qualified public in attendance, the event provides strategic marketing opportunities that satisfy the needs of the visitors as much as the needs of the exhibitors; always focused on generating business”, explains Ligia. Partners that are highly respected in the sector, such as Anclivepa-BR and Anclivepa-SP, also make it possible to hold the main congresses and symposiums in conjunction, which is a factor that becomes more attractive to pet and veterinarian sector professionals. Position highlight Studies done by Anfalpet (the National Association of Pet Food Manufacturers) indicate that there are more than 100 thousand locations that sell products for pets. Of these, approximately 40 thousand are pet shops. The average amount spent per capita/ year on products and services is R$ 390.00, between pharmaceutical products, vaccines, beautification and accessories. This represents total sales of R$ 16 billion for the sector. To give you an idea, sales just in the pet food segment in 2008 reached a total of R$ 3.2 billion. As in the last edition, Pet South America 2009 will have Royal Canin, the cat and dog food manufacturer, as a special sponsor.
