THE EVENT
21,374 professionals from the sector have consecrated the Brazilian pet market during the 11th edition of Pet South America.The exhibitors presented trends and new developments in health, nutrition, behavior, technology, fashion and luxury for dogs, cats, fishes, birds and rodents. For 2012, the expected growth for the pet market is in the range of 12% according to Abinpet ( Pet Products Industry Association). This and others impressive numbers were confirmed during the 3 days of exhibition of Pet South America, main trade show for the pet and veterinarian market of Latin America.
Aware of the growing demand of attendees for news and information about aquarism, NürnbergMesse Brazil, for the second consecutive year, held the Aquarium Pavilion in partnership with the Brazilian Aquaristics Stores Association (ABLA) and, for the first time, with the support of the Brazilian Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA).
The event brought 57 new brands that chose Pet South America to launch their products and services.
BUSINESS
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the domestic pet market turnover was approximately BRL 18.2 billion in 2011. There are about 40,000 stores in this segment, where the Brazilian spends an average of BRL 759.80 per year with their pet animals, and food is one of the main products consumed by this segment, according to GfK Brazil Research Institute.These data shows that the maturity of market in search for greater professionalization th is imperative for the sector, which was also checked during the 11a. Pet South America.
PARALLEL EVENTS
Paulista Veterinary Specialties Congress happened in the three-day event attracting
approximately 1,500 professionals, presenting the main technical and scientific content of the
sector in Latin America. Through a single entry, the professionals had access to twenty
veterinary specialties currently under debate.
Specialties Presented: Anesthesiology, wildlife, cardiology, soft
tissue surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, physical therapy,
large animals, imaging, and marketing legislation,
complementary medicine and acupuncture, feline medicine,
internal medicine, nephrology and urology, dentistry,
ophthalmology, oncology, orthopedics / neurology,
reproduction and pediatrics, public health and aquaculture.
During October, 17th and 18th, happened the Management and
Marketing Seminar for veterinarians, shopkeepers and entrepreneurs. In its
eighth year attracted professionals from all over Brazil, which were filled
with qualified content directed to entrepreneurs pet segment.

How To Coordinate Work Teams In Mixed Veterinary Establishments;

This year, Pet South America in a partnership unpublished with GS & MD Gouvea and Souza,
brought a novelty: the presentation of the "Estudo Pet Brazil 2012" a study with 820 petshops
throughout Brazil, who shown an understanding of the factors involved in the sale of pet products
and services to consumers and what are the trends for the qualification and professionalism of this
business relationship.
The event took place on the second day of the trade show and had a great success, with free access for industry professionals who wanted to learn about how the market works now, what are the main trends, which may be imported or improved and what can do to sell more and better products and pet services.

The event had 200 participating brands, which brought the latest trends in equipment, accessories, animal health, nutrition, bath and grooming, cosmetics and aesthetics, luxury products, aquarium, and other services.A Pet South America mostrou-se a principal plataforma de negócios pet e veterinário, destacando as novidades no segmento de acessórios e luxo, tecnologia para pets, saúde e laboratório, sustentabilidade, comportamento animal, nutrição e outros. The global diversity of exhibitors is increasingly present in the Pet South America with the presence of various countries such as the United States, Belgium, France, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Italy. The number is result of excellent business environment that the country offers, confirmed in the 11th edition of the trade show organized by NürnbergMesse Brazil, which registered record participation of international companies and brands.
ATTENDEES
From October, 16th to 18th, veterinarians and pet industry professionals upgraded, exchanged information and made business, mobilizing national veterinary pet sector. With an attendance of 21,374 professionals, who have come from 24 different countries, attendees could confer launches of major companies in the segment.
From international attendees, over 58% were from Latin America confirming Pet South America as the leading Latin American event sector.
